Fuller Center’s South Randall Street home progressing

On South Randall Street, the latest house project of The Fuller Center of Webster is going up fast, thanks to some great friends who have come to town for the build.

Fuller Center RV Builders is a program in which retired people travel the entire country helping Fuller Center for Housing covenant partners and Habitat for Humanity affiliates on local projects.

This program is composed of people who have many years experience working with Habitat for Humanity’s RV Care-A-Vanner program.

Traveling the country in their recreational vehicles, the volunteers simply park their “rigs” and work alongside local residents to accomplish the goal of building more simple, decent houses for God’s people in need.

Some of these wonderful volunteers have “roots” in other parts of the country, but many live in their RV units full-time.

Nine couples have descended on Minden, and the 18 volunteers are completing their second week of work on the house on Randall Street.

This project, which is called the “Faith and Community Partnership Build,” is being financed by a generous contribution from First Baptist Church of Minden along with grants from Conoco-Phillips and Claiborne Electric Coop’s “Operation Round-Up.”

“We have had the blessing of working with three of these couples in the past, and it is just amazing to meet new friends among these great RV Builders,” said Charlie Park, executive director of Fuller Center of Webster. “We are also deeply grateful to First Baptist Church of Minden along with Conoco-Phillips and Claiborne Electric Coop for their financial assistance with this project. These are tough economic times, but we are boldly convinced that the body of Christ will rise up and meet the financial challenge of providing safe, affordable housing for those in need. And we are humbled to continue in that ministry.”

Most of the RV Builders will continue to be guests in Minden until the end of March.
